Why the BREW GREEN CLEAN Kit Was Born

In 2023, headlines started circulating about alarming incidents—patrons becoming seriously ill and, in one case, fatally injured after drinking beer contaminated with cleaning chemicals left in draft lines. One case was reported at a Winston-Salem pub by WFDD, where guests were served beer tainted by a cleaner left in the lines, and WRAL has covered similar safety concerns. These incidents highlighted a dangerous gap in sanitation safety protocols.

Understanding the Risk

Caustic cleaners like sodium hydroxide are highly effective at removing beer stone and organic buildup, but they pose significant risks if not handled and rinsed properly. There have been documented lawsuits where individuals suffered severe internal injuries—including burns and gastrointestinal damage—after ingesting trace amounts of caustic residue in beer (Craft Brewing Business, WFDD).

Why We Stepped into Brewery Hygiene

With 35 years of hygiene expertise in high-stakes environments—including industrial breweries, aquariums, zoos, and food processing facilities—we knew there had to be a safer, more reliable solution. Our goal was clear: provide commercial-grade sanitation that’s non-toxic, eco-friendly, and easy to use.
